The world’s first scooter was invented by Piaggio in 1946, and will soon launch much awaited Vespa scooter in India may be in the month of March. This is not the first time Vespa makes it way to India, with the iconic product being sold by Bajaj and LML during the licensed Raj.
The Vespa rose rapidly in popularity to become a loved and revered emblem of ‘made in Italy’ and ‘a new, unique way of enjoying mobility’.
Now Piaggio will finally launch the historic Vespa scooter through its own Indian subsidiary. The company showcased the Vespa scooters at the 11th Auto Expo recently organized in Delhi and received tremendous response.
The Vespa scooter being launched in India is the LX125 variant. This Vespa model is powered by a 125cc, 4-stroke motor, producing a power output of 10.7 BHP and a torque output of 9.6 Nm. Disc brakes will be optional, while the scooter will be built very solidly with 3-coats of paint. The Vespa scooter is being produced at a sprawling new facility at Baramati, which can produce 1.5 lakh scooters every year.
